Oh my, I am so excited. I just finished sewing my very first piece of garment which I am actually planning to wear.

I started yesterday in the morning, copied the pattern, cut out the pieces, slowly going from one step to the next and took the time to do everything slowly to avoid making mistakes I usually tend to do as I am sometimes so impatient.

The pattern is from Jenny and I got the Liberty fabric last week here in Sydney. It so soft and beautiful to sew. I am so happy with it and can't wait to wear it out the first time.

So, now I am thinking, what's next! :)

Crafting & Mandarins

The screen-printing class on Saturday was wonderful...I learnt a lot, but will be a lot more prepared next time and hopefully have the chance soon to try out a bit more things to print ...it was interesting to see how much effort and patient it actually needs to create a perfect print on a piece of fabric...

Do you know when you sign up for classes and you are so excited and have all these things in mind, which you would like to make that you forget that you actually need to learn first how to do it and also that not the first attempts turn out to be amazing...Well, I was lucky that Kate reminded me, have a look at the tea towel she made here.

It is raining cats and dogs here in Sydney.....and I am thinking of Hamburg and realise how fast you can get used to good weather...but right now I actually enjoy the rain...and its sound

And suddenly it is December

It was the first of December this week and it made me find a nice place for the advent calendar I made last year and which I brought with me from Hamburg...

I was quiet excited the whole week, because the Finders Keepers market took place this weekend. They opened their doors on Friday night and I catched up with a friend to have a look at all the beautiful, handmade stuff, people were selling there. Unlimited craftiness and pure joy for the eyes. I really didn't know where to look first and felt like a kid in a candy shop. The venue, an amazing space housed in the Everleigh Rail Yards was so great decorated with its over 75 artists, many workshops and bands playing.

On Saturday we woke up quiet early to get ready for the Everleigh Farmers' Markets, which happen to be right next to the place where the Finders Keepers markets is, so I had an excuse to go again. :) I was again walking through the stalls and was amazed by all the beautiful creative ideas and products...I could have bought so many things but stopped myself a bit and just got a gorgeous pair of earrings and some pretty handprinted paper cards and prints. They were my two favourite stalls and I kept coming back again and again, looking at their stuff.

The farmers' market was also quiet good and somehow reminded me to the Borough Markets in London, also that it is not really as big as these markets, but the whole feeling was the same. We lined up for the most amazing Chinese pancakes, which were made by Kylie Kwong, a Sydney-based chef. The wait was so worth it, they were so good and reason enough to come back to the markets more often.

After those two markets we made our way to Surry Hills, I was looking for a 50's/60's dress for an upcoming Christmas party. I didn't take any pictures as I was too busy to look at all the dresses at the flea market there and I was very lucky because I found a really nice dress for just 10$.

Random

Here are a few images from my last two days.

#1-4 I was out for a walk in Elizabeth Bay - saw a great house wearing a 'green eyemask' and a cobweb which looked like it was lots of work:) Walking there I stumbled over a nice wooden chair, standing there with all sorts of other stuff ready to end up in the trash. I took it with me, cleaned it, oiled the wood and put new fabric on it. I already love it.

# 5/6 I also wanted to show you two of the little bags I made for friends. They are so easy to make and it is so much fun to put fabric together and sew it.

# 7/8 I like how those two images sort of fit together. They look so much like Spring. The rich green, brown and light pink. I saw this tree full with berries today, the berries will turn darker and you can actually eat them. You just need to be faster than the birds.

9-12 A few more shots I took around Surry Hills. If you are in Sydney, make sure you have a coffee at Single Origin. They roast their own beens and you can really taste it. Such good coffee.

#13 A snack I just made. I am trying to track down a store here at which you could actually buy goat cheese with a rind.

Triangle

Since I got my sewing machine the other week I have got so many ideas and projects in my mind and sketchbook I would like to make over the next weeks.

I have always loved patterns in all their forms and I have especially always been very much fond of triangles. You see them all over the blog-world like on Mette's great blog or in Malin's shop.

Inspired by them I tried this weekend to sew my very first triangle pillow case. It was quiet tricky at some points but I am happy with the result and I am glad that I tried to make it.

It is such a great feeling to hold something in your hands made by you.
